Aerospatiale Concorde
The Concorde of 1976 was the supersonic marvel jointly built by Britain and France, cruising at twice the speed of sound and crossing the Atlantic in under three-and-a-half hours. Its slender delta wing and droop nose became icons of technological ambition, carrying celebrities and executives in rarefied luxury for British Airways and Air France. Fuel thirst, noise and the economics of a niche market — and a fatal 2000 crash — ended its career in 2003, leaving it the most glamorous airliner ever to fly.
