Boeing 737 MAX 9
The MAX 9 stretches the MAX 8 to seat up to 220, Boeing's answer to the popular A321neo. It entered service in 2018 but shared in the type's grounding, and a mid-air door-plug blowout on a near-new example in 2024 renewed scrutiny of the programme's production quality. It gives MAX operators added capacity, though Airbus retained a strong lead at the top of the single-aisle market.
