The A321-200 of 1997 added fuel and power to restore range, becoming the definitive classic A321 and outselling every larger 737. Its high capacity and low seat-mile cost made it the choice for holiday carriers and growing low-cost airlines. It cemented Airbus's lead at the top of the single-aisle market that Boeing never fully answered.
