Boeing 737 MAX 8
Boeing's fourth-generation 737, the MAX entered service in 2017 with large high-bypass LEAP engines to cut fuel burn and counter the Airbus A320neo. The MAX 8 is the core, best-selling model, but two crashes in 2018–2019 traced to its MCAS flight-control software led to a near-two-year worldwide grounding. After extensive fixes and recertification it returned to service and resumed high-volume deliveries.
