Boeing 787-8
The 787-8 Dreamliner entered service in 2011 as the first airliner built largely of carbon-fibre composites, after a closely watched and much-delayed development. It cut fuel burn by around a fifth and gave passengers bigger windows, higher humidity and a more comfortable cabin altitude. The baseline model opened long, thin intercontinental routes that had never before supported a widebody.
