Airbus A340-300
The A340-300 of 1993 was the main early A340, seating around 300 and sharing its airframe with the twin-engined A330. Through the 1990s it gave carriers a four-engine long-haul aircraft that could fly any route without overwater restrictions, popular with Lufthansa, Air France and Cathay Pacific. As reliable twins took over, its four thirsty engines pushed it into early retirement.
