Airbus A340-500
The A340-500 of 2002 was an ultra-long-range version built to fly the world's longest routes nonstop, and it did — Singapore Airlines used it for the roughly 18-hour Singapore–New York service. Carrying extra fuel and a smaller premium-heavy cabin, it prioritised reach over economics. High fuel costs made those marathon routes unsustainable for a time, and the type sold only in small numbers.
