Boeing 737-100
The 737-100 first flew in 1967 as Boeing's smallest jet, a twin-engined short-haul airliner entering a market Douglas and BAC had reached first. Boeing mounted the engines directly under the wing and reused the 707's fuselage cross-section, keeping it cheap to build and roomy for its size. Only a handful were sold, but the 737-100 launched what would become the best-selling jet airliner family in history.
