Boeing 737-400
The 737-400 of 1988 stretched the Classic to seat up to 188, targeting charter and higher-density routes as leisure travel boomed. It gave airlines 727-like capacity with the economy of a modern twinjet and two-crew cockpit. Popular with European holiday carriers, it filled the middle of the Classic range between the -300 and the smaller -500.
