Tupolev Tu-154B
The Tupolev Tu-154 of 1972 was the Soviet Union's mainstay medium-haul tri-jet, roughly analogous to the Boeing 727, seating around 160–180 with rugged landing gear for rough airfields. The Tu-154B was a widely-built version that became the backbone of Aeroflot's fleet, carrying a huge share of Soviet domestic traffic. Powerful and fast, it defined medium-haul travel across the Eastern Bloc for a generation.
