Airbus A300B4
The A300 first flew in 1972 as the world's first twin-engined widebody and the aircraft that launched Airbus, a new European consortium challenging American dominance. The A300B4 added fuel for longer range and became the first commercially successful version, proving that two engines could safely and economically do a widebody's job. It laid the foundation for the twin-engine widebody world that followed.
