Boeing 737-300
The 737-300 launched the "Classic" generation in 1984, re-engined with fuel-efficient high-bypass CFM56 turbofans in response to the oil shocks of the previous decade. Fitting the fat new engines under the low 737 wing forced their distinctive flattened-bottom nacelles. Seating around 140, it became a mainstay of the deregulated 1980s US market and of the fast-growing European charter and low-cost carriers.
