Ilyushin Il-86
The Ilyushin Il-86 of 1980 was the Soviet Union's first widebody, a four-engined jet seating around 320 with a unique feature: passengers boarded via built-in airstairs at lower-deck vestibules where they left their luggage. Underpowered and thirsty, its range fell short of expectations, limiting it mostly to busy domestic and holiday routes. It nonetheless gave Aeroflot mass capacity for the 1980 Moscow Olympics era.
