McDonnell Douglas DC-8-72
The DC-8-72 is the CFM56 re-engined version of the long-range -62, pairing modern engines with the airframe best suited to distant routes. Quieter and more economical, these conversions flew cargo and specialised roles, including scientific research aircraft that still fly today. It extended the DC-8's life far beyond its original design.
