McDonnell Douglas DC-8-71
The DC-8-71 is a "Super Seventy" — a 1980s re-engining of the -61 with quiet, efficient CFM56 turbofans to meet new noise rules and fuel costs. The upgrade gave these ageing airframes a new lease of life, mainly hauling cargo for operators like UPS. It showed how a classic jet could be modernised rather than scrapped.
